I saw a movie called Mysterious Skin with Joseph Gordon-Levitt who played the kid in 3rd Rock from the Sun. It's about how childhood sexual abuse (from the same perpetrator) affected two very different boys in two very different ways. I am so impressed with the film and with Joseph as an actor. It was a very difficult film to watch at times - not necessarily because of the abuse, but more because of Neil’s (Joseph’s character) experiences as a hustler in NYC and watching the catharsis of Neil and especially Brian, the other boy (played by Brady Corbet).

I came across that movie one night when I couldn't sleep. Such a raw and powerful movie. Gordon-Levitt was wonderful in the role. It definitely was difficult to watch and yet I ended up buying this movie for my collection because I knew I needed to watch it again (preferably not at 3am).
I saw this film when it first came out at the Carleton Cinemas in Toronto. I was alone and after the screening I walked home somewhat devastated. It's a great film in that it moved me, and the emotions it provoked remained with me for a few days. I'm fascinated to hear it did the same for others.
