The Hierarchy

No, not the Roman Curia (bi-curious as they may be), but the hierarchy of men being with men in South Florida and possibly other parts of the gay universe. As in the conversation with my friend Malcolm:

"He's not my boyfriend. He's a flirtation."

The hierarchy is:

Flirtation
Coffee Date
Dating
Boyfriend
Steady Boyfriend
Lover
Partner, but still have sex occasionally
Living with my Ex
Ex

The flirtation stage is wonderful. I find I am most obsessive about a man during this engendering stage. Coffee stage breaks down some of the mystique; dating peels away at the man and rather than showing his ambassador ( or attache- which one always show in the flirtation stage) his true self comes out. If you decide to ignore his flaws then you are on to boyfriend, this is where he feels comfortable enough to kiss you prior to chewing gum or brushing his teeth... and from there my friend its all down hill... I want to state for the record,I like to have a little mystery with my men. I do not need to know my men have normal bodily function- I like to keep something private- after all

Speaing of flaws...

There was a young gay couple in Queens looking at a house to buy. The realtor said, "there's not a flaw in it." The young gay couple asked, "then what do you stand on?"
